Green joins with Sen. Anthony Williams to improve tax climate

Councilman Bill Green and State Senator Anthony Hardy Williams have teamed up to push for business tax reform in Harrisburg:

Have Councilman Bill Green and state Sen. Anthony Hardy Williams gone from political foes to policy pals?

It sure looks that way. The duo - both of whom have flirted with running for mayor this spring - are holding a City Hall news conference today to tout a proposal to shift the way state business taxes are levied. "We thought it was a good idea," said Williams. "There's no conspiracy theory here."

Williams will announce proposed legislation that would eliminate the state's business-income tax, which taxes profits, in favor of a receipts tax on sales.

-"Councilman Green, Sen. Williams don't want to do (to) business as usual." Catherine Lucey, Philadelphia Daily News.
